About the Event
We have been awarded the $10,000 #HomelessNoMore Grant Challenge
The Challenge: Raise a matching $10,000 from our community in order to receive the $10,000 HUMI Grant!
We need the help of our community! We will only receive the $10,000 HUMI Grant if we are able to raise a matching $10,000 from our community during Virtual Giving Week!
The Funds: All dollars raised during Virtual Giving Week, in addition to the $10,000 HUMI Grant, will go directly to Baldwin County families to pay for move-in costs associated with moving into their home and help families who need help with rent payments to remain in their home and prevent evictions. This is incredibly important right now due to the economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Imagine losing your source of income to an accident at work, or being laid off due to a world pandemic. Rent and utilities are still due every month, regardless if income is being received. Many people still haven't received stimulus checks. Baldwin County families are still going through many uncertainties. Children are out of school and their day cares remain closed... and in addition, what if they have no home? What if they have no place to plug in and do their schoolwork? Families who are living doubled up with other families are getting kicked out due to the added stressors that come along with having to "stay home" - The calls for help that we are receiving are families who are being asked to leave.
Many of us have been very fortunate during the pandemic in that our finances and our housing situations have not been impacted. Family Promise of Baldwin County is bracing for the economic impacts of this pandemic - We have already seen the effects begin. As experts in housing stability, we want to be a part of the solution in Baldwin County. In our efforts to #flattentheeconomicimpactscurve, we would like you to please consider donating a portion of your stimulus check. 100% of the HUMI grant and the matching donations will go directly to Baldwin County families – Zero dollars will be allocated to our overhead and operating fees. Again, these dollars will go to preventing family evictions and assisting families with move-in costs right here in Baldwin County.
